RYE: District 3 Executive Councilor Janet Stevens announced the approval of an additional $1.3 million to complete the flood mitigation project for Hampton’s Meadow Pound Road neighborhood. Funding was approved on October 18 by the Joint Fiscal Committee. The Town of Hampton had previously received a $2 million Critical Flood Risk Infrastructure Grant, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, to address severe flooding that made roads impassable.
HANOVER: Solaflect Energy designed and installed two solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) chargers at Hypertherm Associates in Hanover. The first off-grid EV chargers from Solaflect were installed several months ago at Dartmouth College, with plans to install more throughout the state in the coming months.
DURHAM: RiverWoods Durham has been recognized as a chapter of Senior Stewards Acting for the Environment (SSAFE), solidifying its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices. SSAFE, founded in 2020 by residents of Kendal Communities, has grown to include 16 life care communities across the U.S. The organization’s mission is to create a pathway to carbon neutrality, aiming for a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2050. By joining SSAFE, RiverWoods Durham will gain access to valuable resources, including expert presentations, white papers, energy audits and case studies to help achieve its environmental goals.
PLYMOUTH: Marking the 80th birthday of co-founder Steve Rand, Common Man for Ukraine announced the grassroots nonprofit’s 11th humanitarian aid trip to Ukraine this December. The trip will serve as Common Man for Ukraine’s third annual Christmas Convoy, delivering food, sleeping bags and holiday cheer to Ukrainian children of war living in orphanages and child safe houses. The group has raised $3.5 million for humanitarian supplies and mental health services for Ukrainian children and families.
SUNAPEE: Fidium Fiber has expanded its multi-gig speed internet network to more than 3,800 homes and businesses in Sunapee, Newbury and New London, providing easier access to online learning, remote work and telehealth visits. For rural communities, fiber broadband drives economic growth, leading to 44% higher GDP and 18% higher per capita income. Today, more than 250,000 New Hampshire homes and businesses have access to Fidium, with additional availability coming soon across the state.
DOVER: In response to a water line break in August that flooded the Dover Fire Department’s toy storage area, which destroyed over $40,000 worth of holiday gifts, First Seacoast Bank has taken action to replace the lost inventory. Along with other local businesses, the Dover branch organized a toy collection drive earlier last month and delivered the donations to help restock the Dover Fire Toy Bank, which serves local children each holiday season.
