MANCHESTER: The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire and the Manchester Historic Association will be unveiling a new historical marker recognizing and honoring enslaved peoples’ contributions to Manchester’s textile industry. An unveiling ceremony will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Millyard Museum.
DOVER: To commemorate its tenth anniversary, Reach for the Top Therapy — a family-centered nonprofit offering occupational, physical and speech therapy services for children with disabilities — is hosting an art auction on September 26 at Susan Hanna Studios in downtown Dover. The event will feature artwork created by children in therapy as well as donated original pieces from local Seacoast artists.
NORTHFIELD: Spaulding Academy has been named the first nationally certified Choose Love school, a curriculum that provides a framework of best practices that foster a safe and compassionate environment. Since the school’s adoption of the Choose Love philosophy, the campus has seen a 35% decrease in crisis behaviors, and standardized test scores have increased.
CONCORD: ApprenticeshipNH, a workforce training program of the Community College System of NH, and A Place to Grow LLC, a nature-based early learning center in Brentwood, have collaborated with New Hampshire’s Office of Apprenticeship and other stakeholders to create the nation’s first Registered Early Childhood Director Apprenticeship Program approved by the U.S. Department of Labor. This new Registered Apprenticeship Program develops entrepreneurial and small business skills so individuals with early childhood education experience have a pathway to own or manage child care facilities.
