PLYMOUTH: Plymouth State University presented 34 third-year nursing students with engraved Littmann double-sided stethoscopes in a ceremony on Aug. 26 to mark the students’ transition to clinical practice. The third-year cohort will be starting their clinical rotations for patient-centered care at Cottage Hospital in Haverhill, Littleton Regional Healthcare in Littleton and Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, along with other organizations.

MANCHESTER: Kula Crate, a new crowdfunding platform designed to help teachers purchase classroom supplies, has launched alongside its nonprofit arm, KulaCares, to provide essential supplies to Manchester-based educators. To start the 2024-25 school year, Kula Crate delivered boxes of supplies to Green Acres Elementary School, Gossler Park Elementary School, Smyth Road Elementary School, Jewett Street School and McDonough Elementary School.

PORTSMOUTH: Great Bay Community College is sponsoring a new U.S. Department of Labor medical assistant registered apprenticeship program supported by ApprenticeshipNH. The program will provide support for employers looking to fill gaps in the medical assistant workforce on the Seacoast, and will consist of eight weeks of classroom instruction and clinical training, followed by a four-week externship. Apprentices also receive one and a half to two years of paid on-the-job training with the participating employer.

DOVER: The Children’s Museum of New Hampshire will be undergoing construction of two new second-floor exhibits that will be open to the public in early 2025. The exhibits will feature “Little Farmers,” designed for children ages 5 and under on the subject of farms and farming, and a play loft with open space for playgroups including rotating and flexible activities. Starting Sept. 18, a few exhibits will be relocated and modified to allow for the ongoing construction.

MANCHESTER: Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 cohort of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. Chosen participants in the program will receive business education and connections to a professional support network at no cost. Those small business owners who wish to take their business to the next level are welcome to apply by Nov. 27 at 10ksbapply.com. The three-month program begins March 2025.

WEST LEBANON: The Upper Valley Arts Alliance (UVAA) has officially relaunched to unite art organizations to increase access to the arts for all. A collaboration of more than 20 organizations, the UVAA offers programs, educational initiatives, community events and more to foster artistic growth in the Upper Valley region and to inspire a deeper appreciation for the arts in the community.
