1. More than 400 people participated in Granite VNA’s Annual Hospice Home & Garden Tour on July 10, with proceeds of more than $29,000 used to support the agency’s hospice services. This year’s tour featured five homes in Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro, whose architecture, décor and natural surroundings attendees could view. 2. Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) recently supported the 2024 Meredith Sculpture Walk, an exhibition of more than 30 public art pieces on Meredith’s Main Street and waterfront, with a $5,000 scholarship. The Sculpture Walk is an initiative of the Greater Meredith Program, an organization formed to revitalize the town of Meredith and spotlight local artists.

3. Dover’s Wentworth-Douglass Hospital welcomed a high-end positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) scanner to its facility in July, to be used to determine whether patients have ischemia, or a reduced blood supply. The equipment features improved image quality generated with lower radiation doses than other scanners, greater energy efficiency than traditional scanners and operational efficiency made possible by artificial intelligence. The hospital is expected to double its daily scan capacity with the new scanner.

4. The Bedford Rotary Club’s seventh-annual Trails 2 Ales 5K footrace raised more than $14,000 for the club, welcoming 340 runners to the event on Aug. 1. Runners followed a route on nearby crosscountry ski trails, then participated in an after-run gathering with grilled burgers and locally brewed ales.

5. Animal Welfare Alliance Resource and Education of NH (AWARE of NH) raised $15,000 during its Putts for Paws Charity Golf Tournament on July 15. The funds will be used for surgical equipment at AWARE’s Hooksett location to perform pet spay and neuter services.

6. The Southern New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Atkinson for Atkinson Heights’ new community center. Atkinson Heights is an age-restricted condominium community with 288 two-bedroom units across nine buildings, with each building having four floors and a parking garage.

7. The New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) and Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey announced that crews collected a record 34,500 pounds of recycled glass in this year’s “Bring Back Jack” program, held in April and May. The program first launched in April 2023 and has provided nearly 70,000 pounds of glass to processing facility Recycleworks, which has turned it into new beverage bottles. 8. Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) recently purchased $5,000 in tax credits through the Community Development Finance Authority, supporting the nonprofit Grafton Regional Development Corporation (GRDC). The credits are aimed at helping increase GRDC’s outreach to underserved small businesses and entrepreneurs in Grafton County.
