UBS Wealth Management USA announced that a four-person financial advisor team, The Hartigan Schehl Group, has joined the firm’s northern New England market in Manchester. The team is led by financial advisors Will Hartigan and Steve Schehl, responsible for managing more than $700 million in client assets. Also joining are client service associates Andrea Michelon and Nora Dube.
Northeast Credit Union has hired Jeff Dickinson as its new vice president and senior commercial lending officer, bringing with him over 25 years of banking experience working with small to medium-sized family businesses, real estate developers and nonprofits. Dickinson most recently served as the executive vice president and senior banking officer at Newburyport Bank.

Polaris Direct, a direct marketing services and printing company, achieved its G7 Master Colorspace status through Idealliance, and also received its certification with the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership. C&J Bus Lines has reopened the Dover Bus Terminal’s service to and from Boston’s Logan Airport and New York City starting on Feb. 4, 2024, operating 24 hours a day. C&J will provide 26 daily roundtrip schedules between Dover, NH, and Logan Airport, with daily luxury service to New York City.
WORK Lakes Region — a co-working and event studio — has officially opened its doors at 51 Elm St. in Lakeport. The studio is a membership-based co-working space offering full- and part-time memberships for one- to three-person private, longer-use offices; hot/flex desks and offices; dedicated desks; and several meeting and event spaces for groups of three to 100.

EDUCATION
In response to the rapidly growing cybersecurity industry, Rivier University will launch an MBA in Cybersecurity Leadership in May 2024. In addition to the MBA, the university will offer a 4+1 program enabling students to receive their cybersecurity undergraduate and master’s degrees in just five years. Applications are being accepted for the 2024 summer semester.

Sheehan Phinney attorney Abbygale Martinen has been named to the NH Legal Assistance Board of Directors. Martinen served as a 2020 Crisis Response Fellow with NHLA, where she helped the organization respond to increased legal needs created by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, Sheehan Phinney welcomed Andrew J. Newcombe to the firm’s Manchester office. As a member of the firm’s corporate group, Newcombe assists with entity formations, contract and employment matters, and other general corporate matters, including data privacy and security.

The Newburyport Bank Charitable Foundation has donated $1,000 to Greater Seacoast Community Health — a network of community health centers providing primary care, pediatrics, dental care, behavioral health counseling, substance use disorder treatment and more — to support services provided for those experiencing homelessness.
The State Historical Resources Council has added four properties to the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places: Haynes Library, one of the first free-standing buildings in Alexandria Village built in 1894; Danbury, North Road Schoolhouse/District No. 4 School built in 1853-54; “The Brick Church” community center, built in 1834 by the First Baptist Society of Henniker; and Old New London Village established in 1962 and one of the state’s first open-air museums.
Coos Economic Development Corporation has appointed former State Representative Tim Egan to its Board of Directors. Currently a faculty member at Vermont State University, Egan has two New England Emmy Awards as a writer, director and producer, including 28 Emmy nominations, over the course of a 25-plus year career.
Tiffany Breau-Metivier, vice president of transformation and office lead for Unum, has accepted the role of board chair for Goodwill Northern New England. Breau-Metivier joined the board in 2017 and serves on the Executive Committee, Finance Committee and the Quality Assurance Committee.
Future In Sight, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing the independence of persons who are blind and visually impaired, will be providing training on the one4all Accessible Voting System in advance of the New Hampshire primary election. The one4all system was created to make voting accessible to individuals with a range of disabilities including hearing and vision loss. The Boys & Girls Club of Manchester inducted three women into its Hall of Fame on Nov. 9: Central High School counselor Catherine Kabala, a BGCM alum and former staff member; Ann Pappas, a longtime BGCM staff member, posthumously honored for her legacy; and Jocelyn Mahoney, another BGCM alum and former staff member.
Nicole Bernarducci, a registered nurse and team leader in Fed-Point’s Care Coordination Department, was recently recognized by Easterseals NH & VT as its 2023 Volunteer of the Year. FedPoint has been a longtime supporter of Easterseals NH’s Veterans Count program, and Nicole volunteered at several Veterans Count events throughout the year including the annual Radiothon; Pack and Boots race; On the Tarmac; Red, White and Brew; and the Salute Our Soldiers Gala.
Best Buddies in New Hampshire — a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunities for friendship, employment, leadership development and inclusive living for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities — hosted its Champion of the Year Gala in Nashua on Nov. 18, which raised $259,000. Through a silent and live auction, fundraising champions who were top donors included Jennifer Corriveau and James Masterson ($50,000), Marga Patterson and Katelyn McKivergan ($35,000), and Dave Hausman and Charles White ($25,000).
The Free State Project, a nonprofit dedicated to attracting liberty-minded individuals and libertarians to New Hampshire, has named Maine Senator Eric Brakey as its new executive director, overseeing daily operations and working closely with the organization’s board of directors, staff and volunteer community.

The New Hampshire Insurance Department has revitalized the Mental Health and Addiction Services Advisory Committee — dormant since July 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic — which will resume its work advising the insurance commissioner on issues related to accessing mental health and substance use disorder services through private insurance coverage. Attorney General John M. Formella announced that the Attorney General’s Office Civil Rights Unit will add three new positions to combat hate crimes, discrimination and civil rights violations: an additional attorney, a sworn law enforcement investigator and a legal support staff person. The office has seen a 465% increase in complaints and referrals over the last five years (from 40 to 186), possibly due, in part, to the increasing racial and ethnic diversity in the state, increasingly divisive rhetoric in politics and media, and recent increased tension and geopolitical conflict worldwide.

The New Hampshire Lottery received recognition from the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries for its KENO 603 advertising campaign (produced by GYK Antler) with a “Batchy Award” in the “Best Monitor Game Television Advertisement” category. The team of Family Mechanical — a heating, cooling and electrical provider in Northwood — and its founder, Dave Bailey, have partnered with Rich Jordan and Sanford Temperature Control of Milford. Bailey has joined Sanford as a project manager, so his customers can receive service with a bolstered team and resources.
Pronghorn — an investment capital firm focusing on Black-owned brands’ spirits — has named Dover-based New England Barrel Company as the next seed investment in its spirits portfolio. The entry to the Pronghorn family arrives on the heels of the New York Spirits Competition naming NEBCo the “Best Single Barrel Bourbon Up to 10 Years” for the company’s Single Barrel Select 5-Year Bourbon.

Cornerstone VNA, a nonprofit home health and hospice care provider, recently recognized Jeffrey Mitchell, RN and hospice care team manager, with the 2023 Nightingale Award. Cornerstone VNA created this award for their nurses in 2015 for people who exemplify Florence Nightingale’s work through best practice, mentorship, education and change.
Families First Health & Support Center in Portsmouth recently welcomed two new providers: pediatrician Emily Kaiser and family nurse practitioner Jonathan Morency. Kaiser has been practicing medicine since 2014 after completing her residency training in pediatrics at Inova Children’s Hospital in Northern Virginia. Morency, a family nurse practitioner for the past three years, earned a degree in civil engineering from UNH, then worked for seven years on engineering projects in Boston.

Red River, a technology transformation company, has been named the Cisco Federal Civilian Partner of the Year in recognition for its innovation, leadership and best practices. Recipients of Cisco Partner Summit Awards are top-performing partners that have introduced innovative processes, seized new opportunities, and adopted sales approaches that achieve substantial business outcomes for customers. Rightworks, an intelligent cloud service provider for accounting firms and professionals, has appointed Monica Sullivan as its new chief marketing officer. Previously, Sullivan held a similar position at Linnworks and at DemandScience, an AI-powered B2B demand generation company.
ENERGY
Freedom Energy Logistics and Colonial Power Group shared that the Town of North Hampton, NH, has entered into a five-year Community Choice Aggregation consulting agreement, which will help maximize the community’s buying power, resulting in cost savings, local renewable energy initiative advancement, more affordable options and greater consumer protection.
ReVision Energy has purchased $12,500 in tax credits to benefit the NH New Americans Loan Fund Tax Credit program in support of the NH Regional Economic Development Center’s NH New Americans Loan Fund, which provides access to technical assistance and loans to first-generation Americans who are prospective or current business owners throughout the state.
MANUFACTURING
Monadnock Paper Mills published its 2022 Corporate Social Responsibility Report, which details its commitment to sustainability and visions for the future. In 2022, MPM received an EcoVadis Gold Rating, placing it in the top 8% of the 90,000+ companies ranked. Additionally, the company helped its customers avoid the consumption of over 42 million pounds of wood, earning the company a 58% increase in post-consumer waste usage since 2021. Monadnock Paper Mills recently hired Daniel J. Burke as the new chief financial officer and treasurer, replacing Andrew Manns, who is retiring. Burke is a CPA with over 22 years of financial management experience in the manufacturing and distribution industries. Most recently, he served as the corporate controller at Velcro Companies, and was also vice president of finance at Iredale Cosmetics.
REAL ESTATE & CONSTRUCTION
PC Construction won a national award from the Construction Management Association of America for One Spruce Peak, a residential mountain retreat at the base of Stowe, Vermont’s Spruce Peak ski resort. PC Construction was also selected to build the resort’s $76.4 million project for the four-story Treehouse at Spruce Peak and a parking garage. Work on that project is currently in progress, with estimated completion in spring 2024.
NH Liquor Commission welcomes new division director
The New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) recently named Mark Roy the Division Director of Marketing, Merchandising, and Warehousing. Roy is a 31-year industry veteran that has worked in multiple roles at NHLC, most recently as spirits marketing and sales specialist. Roy will be responsible for leading retail, wholesale and distribution operations for the NHLC and its 65 NH Liquor & Wine Outlets. Roy began his career at the NHLC in 1992, where he contributed significantly to the establishment and oversight of spirits merchandising, sales and promotions. He was instrumental in creating the region’s largest spirits exposition, the Distiller’s Showcase of Premium Spirits.
