1. Jim Bouley — partner of Dennehy and Bouley for over 15 years and Concord’s longest-serving mayor — was named the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year for 2023. During his tenure as mayor, he facilitated the renovation of downtown; helped implement homeless shelters; and aided in economic development initiatives. 2. Tuscan Brands celebrated the grand opening of its new Artisan Hotel in Salem, NH, with a ribbon cutting last month. The new hotel is the first Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel in New Hampshire, offering 165 guest rooms, including a full fitness facility, pool and lounge area, a 12,000-square-foot banquet and event space, rooftop bar and walkable amenities.
3. Earlier this month, Soleil Salon & Spa in Windham celebrated 20 years in business with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The salon, owned by Luisa Gladymir Garcia, has been recognized as one of the top 200 salons in the U.S. and Canada for six years running, including such accolades as New Hampshire Magazine’s Best of NH, Best of Windham, Best of the Neighborhood, and more.
4. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) celebrated the 10th annual National Veterans Small Business Week from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3 by hosting a series of virtual and in-person events that highlighted the entrepreneurial journeys of veteran- and military spouse-owned small business owners. This year, the SBA launched its Veteran Small Business Certification program (VetCert) to help veterans certify their businesses; expanded capital for veteran-owned small businesses; and launched its Military Spouse Pathway to Business program.
5. Bar Harbor Bank & Trust has donated $1,000 to The Foundation for New Hampshire Community Colleges to support the organization’s efforts to eliminate food insecurity of students who reside in Manchester, Concord and in the Nashua region. The Bank’s donation will be directed to NHTI’s Lynx Pantry, which provides NHTI students with free food options. 6. During May 2023, Salem-based Fabrizia Spirits, New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) and Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits teamed up on the “When Life Hands You Lemons” fundraising initiative to raise $15,000 to support Pink Revolution of New Hampshire (PRNH) in benefit of cancer patients in need of better treatment, chemo care and financial support.
