CONCORD: The N.H. Lottery broke its all-time sales. record in FY2023, surpassing $603 million in total sales, a 12% or $66.5 million increase from its record high of $536.5 million set the previous year. In addition, NHL and New Hampshire’s 14 charitable gaming establishments generated an additional $23.3 million in revenue in support of local charities and nonprofits, and $18.2 million for New Hampshire’s public school system.

MANCHESTER: Elliot Hospital unveiled a new 22,000-square-foot hospital wing adjacent to the emergency department that features advanced infection control with state-of-the-art negative pressure rooms and HVAC technology, which will allow providers to better isolate infectious patients, increase ventilation and air filtration systems, and provide additional oxygen ports to care for an increased number of patients. The renovation was conducted by BOND Building Construction and e4H Architecture, and includes 32 private exam rooms, three trauma rooms and nine rapid triage and treatment chairs.

NEWFIELDS: Coed Naked, a controversial T-shirt brand made popular in the 1990s, relaunched with retail locations at various bars, breweries and retailers throughout the East Coast. Coed Sportswear, its parent company, re-introduced some old styles and new designs as well for the retail brand, which has partnered with Narragansett Beer Company in Providence, R.I., with retail spots in the Country Store in Tilton, N.H., Moosestash in Kittery, Maine, and other locations. A new book, “The Coed Naked Truth,” chronicling owner Mark Lane’s journey with the brand, is also in the works.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: The U.S. Department of Agriculture invested over $12.5 million as part of the USDA Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs that support 76 small businesses conducting high-quality research on scientific challenges and opportunities in agriculture. Among those small businesses that received awards is Micro-Precision Technologies Inc. in Salem, which is receiving funds for its GeoFire Real-Time Wildfire Alert System.

CONCORD: ApprenticeshipNH, a workforce program of the Community College System of New Hampshire, has partnered with Mason + Rich, P.A., of Concord, to launch an Accounting Technician Registered Apprenticeship program. Using ApprenticeshipNH’s “earn while you learn” model, apprentices will earn pay and be trained on-site with a mentor to become Mason + Rich’s next generation of accounting professionals.

NASHUA: In July, UScellular donated 100 wireless hot spots and two years of service, valued at $112,600, to First Tee New Hampshire — a nonprofit that partners with Boys & Girls Clubs across the state to connect children and teens to the game of golf — as part of the company’s After School Access Project. The donated hot spots connect to UScellular’s wireless network to provide high-speed connectivity for youth at home.
