SOUPERFEST 2023

WHAT: The Concord Coalition to End Homelessness is holding their annual SouperFest event, featuring nearly a dozen different soups from local restaurants, for $5 each, and live music from the band Rozwell. SouperFest is a fundraiser for the organization’s mission of ending homelessness in the community. 7TH ANNUAL GALA SEA OF HOPE

WHAT: Friends of Aine — a nonprofit organization providing peer-to-peer support services to grieving children, teens and families — will host its 7th annual gala, a black-tie-optional event featuring dinner, dancing and a live auction with items such as trips to highly desired vacation spots and a private professional photography session, among other experiences. Additionally, this year will feature live entertainment by Dueling Pianos. All proceeds will benefit grief support services and programs offered by the organization.

THE LENSES WE LOOK THROUGH: UNCONSCIOUS BIAS AT WORK

WHEN: Wed., April 12, 9 – 11 a.m.

WHERE: Hannah Grimes Center, 25 Roxbury St., Keene

WHAT: What do we mean when we talk about unconscious bias? How are these biases formed? Through nonjudgmental discussions and activities, attendees will explore what factors influence how we perceive others as well as how others perceive us. The Hanna Grimes Center will facilitate a safe and structured discussion, providing all participants with an opportunity to learn the definition of unconscious bias, information about how it impacts the workplace, and tools for self-awareness and action. Over three two-hour sessions (in person on 04/12, 04/26, and 05/10), participants will explore themselves and the bias we bring. This series includes concrete facilitation, engaging activities, personal reflection, and small and large-group discussions.

RESCUE RUN: RACE FOR MARINE MAMMALS

WHEN: Sat., April 22, 9 a.m.

WHERE: Seacoast Science Center, 570 Ocean Blvd., Rye

WHAT: The Rescue Run features a 5k chip-timed trail race and untimed walk to benefit the Center’s Marine Mammal Rescue program. The race follows a scenic route through the forest, by the rocky shore, along a sandy beach, and alongside historic military fortifications in Odiorne Point State Park. The first 150 5k registrants receive an official wick-wear race t-shirt; additional shirts are available for purchase for $15 when you register. Prizes will be awarded for the fastest male and female overall times, as well as top finishers in gender and age categories and best ocean-themed costume.
