AMONG WalletHub’s analysis of best states to start a business, New Hampshire ranked low at No. 39 out of all 50 states. The Granite State ranked higher, at No. 21, when it comes to a vibrant business economy, but ranked low in areas such as access to resources, business costs and availability of human capital.

A recent Robert Half survey found that 32.1 percent of all new job postings throughout Q4 2022 were remote, up 0.2 percent from Q3 2022. An increasing number of jobs are allowing remote work in several areas, most notably the tech sector, which accounted for 39 percent of open remote jobs in the country.

IN the U.S., 60 percent of Americans say they’re very concerned about the cost of housing, according to a Pew Research Center analysis. The median household income for renters was $41,000 in 2021, compared with $78,000 among homeowners. A majority of renters (57 percent) had annual household incomes of less than $50,000 that year. To add insult to injury, the median monthly cost of rent increased 12 percent since before the pandemic, from $909 in 2019 to $1,015 in 2021.

IN November 2022, 640,000 new homes were sold nationwide, 5.8 percent above October 2022 but 15.3 percent lower than November 2021, when 756,000 new homes were sold, based on findings from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The median sale price for homes in the U.S. is $471,200.

DATA from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis revealed that the nation’s international trade deficit in goods and services decreased to $61.5 billion in November 2022 from $77.8 billion in October 2022, as imports decreased more than exports. Year-to-date, the goods and services deficit increased $120.1 billion (15.7 percent) from the same period in 2021. Exports increased $439.4 billion (18.9 percent), and imports increased $559.5 billion (18.1 percent).
