At many post-pandemic corporate events and functions, it is very common to hear the organizers tell attendees, “Doesn’t this feel great to be together again.” Indeed it does after nearly two years of going with solely virtual meeting events. Now that in-person events are becoming the norm again, it is more important than ever for businesses to work with event planners and event production companies who can deliver the “wow” effect whether the event is all inperson, virtual or both. New Hampshire Business Review reached out to two event planners to get their perspective on what it takes to create memorable events.
Our panel: Chase Clark, director of event production at Events United, eventsunited.us; and Ben Davis, director of Studio Lab, studiolab.community
Chase Clark, Director of Event Production, Events United:
Q: As the world reopened after the pandemic, how did you transition from virtual events to in-person events so seamlessly?
A: Once things started to reopen, there was a period of time where we encountered both. There were a lot of clients who were very eager to get back to in-person events and some organizations were still cautious. A lot of the events ended up having a virtual element to it, whether it meant bringing in virtual speakers to the event, or having a livestream component for virtual attendees. The transition was seamless for us, since our team and most of our clients happened to be eager to have people together again for events.
Q: What gives your organization a unique edge in the realm of production/events?
A: We take pride in our team. I believe our staff is what separates us from other companies. We have some of the very best technical crew in the area. For us, it’s more than just having cutting-edge gear. Every company has great gear these days. And we stay up to date with the ever-evolving gear, so we always have premier technology to use. We still continue to innovate and use our gear in unique ways. One of our core values is to constantly innovate and push boundaries. But it’s our hard-working and passionate people that really sets us apart.
Q: How does your organization create meaningful connections with your clientele?
A: We take into consideration what the client’s vision is, what their needs are and what they’re trying to accomplish. We then take that information, and use our expertise in the industry to help convey their message. We try to go above and beyond with our clients and provide creative input as well to design an experience that makes a lasting impression.
Ben Davis, Director of Studio Lab:
Q: As the world reopened after the pandemic, how did you transition from virtual events to in-person events so seamlessly?
A: As things reopened, there was so much pent-up demand to gather in person, it really came down to simply continuing to make sure we offer the same exceptional services that we had throughout the pandemic. The scope of events may change, but, at its core, each event is about connecting and no matter what, we are looking to leverage our ability to facilitate that.
Q: What gives your organization a unique edge in the realm of production/events?
A: Our staff. In addition to being incredibly skilled and knowledgeable, our team is made up of individuals who love what they do. This means getting to enjoy the journey alongside a team that cares as much about your event as you do.
Q: How does your organization create meaningful connections with your clientele?
A: Building relationships is a core value here at Studio Lab. This includes both on and off the clock and actively looking to build community is key to making sure creating connections is not just something we say, it’s something we do.
Q: What are your best tips for creating an outstanding virtual event?
A: Preparation is crucial. Make sure to plan as much detail as possible and use every possible opportunity to test things out ahead of time so that there are no surprises on the day of the event.
Q: What is a special feature your venue can offer event planners?
A: Studio Lab has a variety of spaces that can be tailored to fit your specific event. There are dressing rooms, conference rooms and gathering spaces of various sizes, as well as studios for film, photography, music recording and podcasting. Every space is beautifully finished and comfortable for both staff and clientele.
