RUGER SEES BIG DROP IN SALES AS INCOME FALLS OVER 50%

Sturm, Ruger & Co. reported that secondquarter sales were off 30 percent, to $140.7 million, the Connecticut-based manufacturer with a major facility in Newport reported, and profits fell by more than half, to $20.8 million, compared a record quarter in 2021.

Gun sales have fallen nationwide, with criminal background checks for the second quarter showing a 17 percent decrease in sales. At Ruger, estimated units sold from distributors to retailers saw a 31 percent decline.

Supply chain issues and inflation hurt profit margins, CEO Chris Killoy said.

Despite the results, stockholders will be rewarded a 47 cents-a-share dividend at the end of the month.
