HOW do you get your news every day? For 84 percent of American adults, they often or sometimes get their news via digital devices such as smartphones, tablets or computers, according to the Pew Research Center.
ON digital devices, 24 percent of U.S. adults prefer to get their news from news websites or apps, compared with 11 percent who prefer search, 10 percent who prefer getting their news on social media and 4 percent who prefer podcasts. Among survey respondents, 90 percent of adults between the ages of 18 and 29 use digital devices to receive news.
IN a Pew Research Center audit of 97 news outlets conducted in mid-2021, about seven in 10 (73 percent) news organizations have apps on at least one of the two main mobile platforms (iOS and Android). Additionally, nearly all these outlets offer newsletters (93 percent), have a presence on Flipboard (95 percent) or Apple News (88 percent), and release podcasts (75 percent) to share news and other updates.

South Dakota ranked No. 1, leading the way for other top-ranking Midwest states where agriculture production is highest.
