EMPLOYEES are rethinking their commitment to their employers, according to data collected by Pennsylvania-based Energage for its Top Workplaces awards program. A survey of employees at more than 4,000 companies shows employee engagement levels have fallen to a level lower than anytime during the pandemic, dropping two to four percentage points for all industries and six to 10 percentage points in utilities and telecommunications, services, manufacturing, hospitality and education.

THAT likely is tied to worker burnout, as 52% of all workers surveyed by Indeed said they feel burnt out, up nine percentage points from a pre-Covid survey. Employees of all ages and types are experiencing the impact of stress, fatigue, and mental health challenges.

CAREER website Monster found 95% of workers are considering changing jobs, and “remote” ranks No. 4 in terms of common search terms, remaining in the top 10 since February 2021. Another survey from Microsoft of 30,000 workers in 31 countries found 41% of the global workforce is weighing leaving their current employer this year.

ON average, human resources and C-suite leaders expect only 8% of their employees will choose to quit once Covid restrictions are fully lifted, according to a survey of 770 companies worldwide by Seattle-based employee engagement firm Tinypulse. A quarter believe no one will quit. Tinypulse’s CEO expects the reality to fall somewhere in between 8% and 41%.

THE Future Workplace 2021 HR Sentiment survey found 68% of senior HR leaders rated employee well-being and mental health as a top priority. The corporate wellbeing market is now estimated to be $20.4 billion in the U.S. and is forecasted to grow to $87.4 billion by 2026. The report lists seven pillars of holistic employee well-being: physical, career, financial, social, community, emotional and purpose. Companies have sought to meet each need with resources including mandatory savings accounts for emergency expenses and an additional week of vacation when the entire office shuts down.
