1 St. Mary’s Bank made the first installment of a $500,000, five-year gift to Catholic Medical Center’s Pregnancy Care Center, which is now named the St. Mary’s Bank Pregnancy Care Center. Half of the donated funds will be used for CMC’s Building with Heart capital campaign and half will go toward making treatment affordable for lower-income families. 2 In honor of AmeriCorps Week in mid-March, the NH Food Bank thanked many service members, including Nicole with AmeriCorps VISTA, who supports the ins and outs of the NH Food Bank’s volunteer program. Nicole helps to recruit, train and further strengthen the capacity of NH Food Bank’s volunteer program.

3 XSS Hotels and Cathartes recently announced the launch of the Portsmouth Together 200 Challenge to raise $200,000 to support local arts programs, restaurants and hunger relief during the critical 100 days leading up to what they hope will be a busy summer season. Cathartes and XSS Hotels have partnered with Cross Roads House, Take Out Hunger, Gather, The Music Hall, 3S Artspace, Prescott Park Arts Festival, Seacoast Repertory Theater, and the Portsmouth Music and Arts Center. The developers have pledged $100,000 in matching funds toward the effort.

4 Value of Sport board chair and creator John Hayden and board member LeeAnn Hayden received a $5,000 check from FEEDNH.org’s Tom Boucher, board chair Lisa Allen, Tanya Randolph and Nicole Barreira. The donation will support sending five fourth-grade students through the Value of Sport program at a local Manchester elementary school.

5 Thanks to a generous donation from the Saint Patrick’s Parade Committee, those receiving services from Families in Transition-New Horizons enjoyed a St. Patrick’s Day meal.

6 Girls and Boys Club board members Steve Kurek and Chris Nicoli treated the Club staff to an amazing corned beef and cabbage dinner (or pizza for those who don’t appreciate fine Irish cuisine). They brought the food, drinks and music.

7 Greg of The Morning Buzz dropped off a check for just under $23,000 in mid-March at “My Friend’s Place” in Dover, a small homeless shelter. Similar checks were delivered to the NH Food Bank, Families in Transition-New Horizons, David’s House at CHaD, Strafford and Rockingham County Community Action Programs, The Central Vermont Salvation Army, Crossroads House and the Salvation Army of Portsmouth and Manchester. Each of them received just under $23,000 to help feed families in need thanks to $2 million donated by listeners in 2020.
