DESPITE nearly 50% of commercial landlords believing space-peremployee requirements will increase due to social distancing measures, 45% of landlords say tenants’ space requirements will decrease overall, according to a survey by commercial real estate platform VTS. Because of this, approximately 70% of landlords believe that flexible space options will be a more important part of their leasing strategy post-Covid, and 48% expect to dedicate more than 10% to 20% of their portfolios to it, up from 19% last year.
EIGHTY-SIX percent of commercial landlords believe they do a good job of communicating with their current tenants. Yet, only 20% of landlords feel they have full clarity into exposure to tenants at risk of economic failure, and just 15% of landlords are sure they have adequate visibility into what investments or features tenants require in order to safely return to work during Covid-19.
A new survey by cloud-based business operations software, Bill.com, of 1,000 small business owners found 75% of small businesses are planning on introducing new products and services in 2021 in an effort to nurture growth. Only 13% say loans and other government assistance would be most critical for them to grow in the current quarter, though 38% said the easing of lockdown is critical to business growth.
TWENTY-SIX percent of small business owners cite day-to-day decisionmaking as the most important way to drive growth. Fifty-one percent also said they’re implementing strategies including offering discounts to customers and making price changes.
Thirty percent are implementing new customer outreach techniques.
WOMEN who remain in the workforce want more support and resources, according to a recent study by Morning Consult. Of the more than 2,000 women surveyed, 73% of working women view employer-sponsored training and development programs as important, yet only 39% say their employer currently offers this. And 64% of working women surveyed view mentorship programs for employees to connect with one another as important, yet only 21% say their employer offers this.
