BUSINESS ORGANIZATIONS


Peter MacCallum, owner of MacCallum’s Boathouse Inc. in Epsom, has been elected president of the New Hampshire Marine Trades Association, Concord, and John Whalley, general manager of Silver Sands Marina in Gilford, will serve as the group’s vice president. The association promotes issues supporting the marine industry, boating safety and maintaining the health of the waterways that support marine activities.

Alex Ray of The Common Man Family of Restaurants and the Meredith Rotary Club were honored recently by the Meredith Area Chamber of Commerce with the organization’s annual Citizenship Awards. They were recognized for the roles they played in distributing masks to citizens in New Hampshire when there was a shortage. In addition, the chamber presented its Community Pride Award to the No Fair Food Drive, Ken Choice of Ellacoya Barn and Grille, Kaylon Sweet of Osteria Poggio, the Meredith Food Pantry and Meredith Got Lunch. Also, a special recognition was awarded to Meredith Village Savings Bank.

The New Hampshire Bar Association said it is preparing an October 2021 return of its Leadership Academy program for younger attorneys. ENGINEERING


Environmental permitting specialist Jay Aube has joined the Seacoast Division of TFMoran. His 20 years of experience includes 12 years in the public sector as an employee of the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.

Boston-based BSC Group, a longtime provider of engineering, planning, environmental and land surveying services, has opened a new office in Manchester. Lee Curtis, a BSC Group principal, heads up the office, which is located in the Manchester Millyard.

Concord-based Quantum Construction Consultants, a municipal engineering firm, has hired Samuel Cheney as project engineer.

BUSINESS AND CONSUMER SERVICES

Polaris Direct, Hooksett, has added Jill McIntire to its team as traffic coordinator, Chris Ruocco as account coordinator and Olivia Cattabriga as strategic marketing services junior graphic designer.

Work Opportunities Unlimited and Leddy Group, Dover, have announced the promotion of Todd Robertson to vice president of information technology.

Robertson joined the organization in August 2016 as director of IT.

Limoncello producer Fabrizia Spirits, Salem, has launched the Fabrizia Lemon Baking Company, offering traditional Italian limoncello cookies made with the company’s award-winning limoncello. The cookies are made with all-natural ingredients, including real cane sugar, butter, eggs, and plenty of lemon zest and Fabrizia Limoncello. Fabrizia said it will be donating $1 for every package of cookies sold to Feeding America, which provides meals to more than 200 food banks across the country.

LAW

Shaheen & Gordon has announced that Emma Stilson has joined the firm as an associate attorney in the Trusts, Estates & Guardianships practice group.

She will work out of the firm’s Dover office.

CONSTRUCTION

Kristin O’Brien, who has over 25 years of sales and marketing experience, has joined Bonnette Page & Stone of Laconia as director of marketing, a newly created position. In addition, Matt Angell has joined the firm as an estimator, and Tim Buckley was recently named the company’s accountant.

Sean Scales has joined Brookstone Builders Inc., Manchester, as an assistant project manager. Before joining Brookstone Builders, he was a commercial airline pilot.

North Branch Construction, Concord, has begun work on renovations to two properties in Manchester owned by Families in Transition-New Horizons. The renovations, made possible by funds received through the CARES Act, will allow FIT-NH to respond more effectively to operational limitations due to the Covid-19 pandemic and provide assistance for food insecurity and homelessness in the future, officials said.

Construction is well underway on Lloyd’s Hills Apartments, a new four-building complex at 2506 Main St. in Bethlehem that will feature 28 two- and three-bedroom units.

Completion is scheduled for February 2021, according to Littletonbased affordable housing organization AHEAD, owner and manager of the project.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

The Rowley Agency Inc., Concord, has hired CPA Holly O’Connor as controller. She succeeds Bruce Langley, who recently retired from the insurance agency after 36 years, serving as treasurer and partner. She most recently was project management advisory manager at Pricewaterhouse Coopers in Boston.


David Cronin of Madison has been promoted to executive vice president and chief human resources officer at New Hampshire Mutual Bancorp.
He most recently was human resources director for NHMB.

ENERGY

Norwich Technologies Inc., White River Junction, Vt., has launched a new division, RunTime Solar, which provides operations and maintenance services to solar energy projects across New England. The division will be headed by Dan Kinney as general manager.

ACCOUNTING

Nathan Wechsler & Company has announced the addition of Duncan Rae to its professional team as an associate.

GOVERNMENT

The New Hampshire Liquor Commission has been recognized as the best liquor and wine control state in the country by State-Ways Magazine for the second time in the annual Control State Best Practices Awards.

StateWays noted NHLC’s technological innovation, nonprofit support, sales and promotions, and its commitment to consumer education.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has once again awarded the city of Dover’s Finance Department a certificate of achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

MANUFACTURING

Len-Tex Corp., North Walpole, has become the first wallcovering manufacturer to acquire the GreenCircle Certification, a third-party certification providing independent verification of sustainability claims for water and energy reduction, bio-based content and waste generation. The certification is recognized by the U.S. Green Building Council, and certified products are accepted for LEED credit.

HEALTHCARE

Curtis Lancaster, vice president of supply chain at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, has been elected to serve as a provider representative on the Association for Health Care Resource & Materials Management’s board of directors. AHRMM has more than 4,200 members nationally and worldwide.

Alan Owens, engineering operations manager at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, has become a senior member of the American Society for Health Care Engineering, giving him the SASHE designation. Owens has been a member of ASHE since 2013.

Carissa Hodgdon, a clinical nurse in the intensive care nursery at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, has won the New Hampshire Nurses Association’s Rising Star Award, which honors a nurse who has been in the field of nursing for less than five years, has contributed to the profession and has demonstrated significant potential as a leader and advocate.

The New Hampshire Health Facilities Administration has deemed Cedarcrest Center for Children with Disabilities, Keene, as deficiencyfree for the third year in a row. The agency’s life safety inspector found the facility in excellent condition and in compliance with all life safety standards.

Dr. Mark A. Creager, director of the Heart and Vascular Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, has won the 2020 Gold Heart Award, the American Heart Association’s highest volunteer honor. It is presented to a volunteer whose contributions of time and talent have transformed communities and advanced the AHA mission nationally.

Memorial Hospital, North Conway, has received a three-year grant from the Administration for Community Living that is aimed at supporting Mt. Washington Valley agencies assisting residents and their families living with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease or caring for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Partners in the effort include: MaineHealth Partnership for Healthy Aging, Mount Washington Valley Adult Day Center, The Gibson Center for Senior Services, and Visiting Nurse Home Care & Hospice of Carroll County.

TRANSPORTATION

C&J Bus Lines will begin operations on Nov. 15 at its new transportation center in Seabrook. The companyowned facility, under construction since the start of the year, features a new bus terminal and over 800 parking spaces. C&J will provide nonstop motor-coach service to Boston South Station and Logan International Airport, and direct service to New York City from this location.

TECHNOLOGY

Senet Inc., a Portsmouth-based provider of cloud-based software and services platforms for connectivity and networks related to the internet of things, has introduced a full suite of radio access network planning and management tools to support deployment of commercial LoRaWAN (low-power wide-area network) solutions that the company says will allow network operators, tower companies, municipalities, building owners and solution providers to design, deploy and manage carrier-grade, indoor and outdoor Lo-RaWAN networks.

NONPROFITS


The YMCA of Greater Nashua has announced that Joy Devins and Camille Pattison have joined the Y’s board of directors. Devins is chief of strategy at Atrium Innovations, and Pattison is transit administrator for the City of Nashua’s transit system. They both reside in Nashua.

Girls Inc. of New Hampshire has launched a new fundraiser to help the organization raise money while adhering to social-distancing guidelines: The Strong, Smart & Bold Car Raffle. Some 1,000 tickets will be available for purchase at $100 each, and three winners will be selected for the raffle. The grandprize winner can choose either a 2021 Chili Red Mini Cooper or $20,000; the second-place winner will receive a 2020 Honda Super Cub motorcycle; and the third-place winner will receive the newest Apple Watch. Dan Hebert of Hillsboro, founder of New Hampshire Jumpstart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy, has been recognized as a 2020 Myra Kraft Community MVP Award winner by the Kraft family and the New England Patriots Foundation. The foundation will make a $10,000 donation to New Hampshire Jumpstart, which Hebert founded 20 years ago. As president, he leads all of the programming efforts, which provide financial education to people of all ages.

Dan Fraser of White River Junction, Vt., owner of Dan and Whit’s Country Store, has joined Waypoint’s Upper Valley regional board of directors.

REAL ESTATE

The city of Concord and The Caleb Group, a nonprofit affordable housing organization based in Swampscott, Mass., have opened the first phase of Penacook Landing, 34 apartments at the Allied Leather Tannery property, a former brownfields site. Some 31 of the apartments are affordable. Financing help was provided by the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority, the Community Development Block Grant program, Evernorth and Genesis Community Loan Fund. Cheshire Builders, a Swanzey-based construction company, was the builder. Caleb plans to develop the second and final phase of the project with 20 additional units of housing in 2021, dependent upon funding.

Two more people have joined the sales leadership team of Coldwell Banker Realty in New England. Peter Deely has been appointed sales manager of the Coldwell Banker Realty office in Portsmouth. He most recently was principal broker at Brick and Barn Real Estate Group. In addition, Heather McAfee has been named sales manager position at the Center Harbor office. She previously was sales director at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate in Tilton.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS

UScellular has hired Peter Richards as store manager at its 946 S. Willow St. location in Manchester. Previously, he was a general manager with Verizon Wireless.
