KOLLSMAN WINS MARINE CORPS CONTRACT

Kollsman Inc. has been selected to develop two prototypes of a multispectral weapon sight technology for the U.S. Marine Corps. The company will perform design, development and testing work over the next year for the second phase of the USMC’s Integrated Clip-on Advanced Targeting Sight program, kollsman parent company Elbit Systems said. The work will be done at kollsman’s Merrimack.

The sight is intended to help reconnaissance and sniper Marines spot targets even during nighttime or in situations where vision is compromised by austere weather or bad lighting.

FITZWILLIAM SOLAR PROJECT GOES BEFORE STATE PANEL

The New Hampshire Site Evaluation Committee has begun hearings today on a proposed 30-megawatt solar array in Fitzwilliam — what would be the largest project of its kind ever built in the state.

The project, called Chinook Solar, is proposed by a subsidiary of Florida-based NextEra Energy, owner of the Seabrook nuclear power plant. It is planned for 110 acres of private land south of Route 119.

The project would be the state’s largest solar array. As of the end of 2019, New Hampshire’s total solar capacity was about 105 megawatts, so the Fitzwilliam project would add nearly 30% to the state’s total capacity if built.

MILLIPORESIGMA ADDING 160 JOBS IN COVID-FUELED EXPANSION

MilliporeSigma is in the process of adding 160 jobs at its Jaffrey facility as the global life sciences company ramps up production of components used to develop potential Covid-19 treatments and vaccines.

The company began hiring in Jaffrey in June and will continue through the end of the year, said David Poggi, the plant’s director of operations. So far, Millipore-Sigma has added about 80 new employees.

The job openings range from entry-level manufacturing positions to engineering, technician and leadership roles. By the end of the hiring push, the Jaffrey facility will employ more than 1,200 people and will operate 24/7, Poggi added. All of the roles the company is looking to fill are important, Poggi said, but Millipore-Sigma is especially focused on adding manufacturing jobs.

For the job openings, MilliporeSigma will consider candidates with a wide range of experience, including restaurant, retail and/or previous manufacturing experience.

BIA OFFERS MARKETPLACE FOR MANUFACTURING BUYERS, SELLERS

Manufacturers Marketplace, an online platform that’s designed to link manufacturing suppliers with manufacturing providers throughout the country, is being made available to New Hampshire companies through the participation of the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire.

The marketplace, which was developed by the National Association of Manufacturers, is available to New Hampshire manufacturers at no cost through October, with certain restrictions, the BIA said.

Manufacturers Marketplace enables manufacturers of all sizes, sectors and points in the supply chain to find and be found, mitigate risk for their business, and increase visibility among the largest pool of potential partners and customers in the country, BIA President Jim Roche said.
